Schools Visit the Painted Stone Station

On Friday almost 800 schools children including homeschoolers visit the encampment to learn about life on the frontier. They visited 23 stations to learn about a variety of skills like butter churning, leather working, blacksmithing and more. They saw The Painted Stone Settlers fire the cannon, heard music, storytelling and enjoyed other forms of 18th century entertainment.

How it all comes together...

Visitors come to an event after it has been set up. Few people see the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. Before we arrive on the scene, it is simply a park. After days of hard work an 18th century settlement emerges. Thought I'd share a few photos of setting up the camp. The event concluded with an open air church service on Sunday morning, before everyone set out for home.
