Although much of the fair brings back favorite entertainers and vendors from year to year, there is always a new twist. This year I was thrilled to see a new museum level exhibit by Frank and Carol Jarboe of Parson John Living History, Inc. Long known for their research on the "lower classes" and indentured servants, this time they shine their spotlight on the lives of poor children. The Exhibit consists of panels with various jobs children might take. In addition, below the panels are some of the tools of each trade. I didn't include all of the panels or items on display - I didn't want to give away all of their great work. I did want to call attention to it. I want visitors and re-enactors to be aware of the new exhibit and stop by to give it serious attention. We all do this for love of history and that should include the pleasant, the romantic and the not so great or well known aspects of that history. Thanks to Carol and Frank for all of their extensive research and giving us this glimpse into the life of a poor child in the 18th Century. Look for this exhibit at various events.
