Larry Ginter left this world too soon. He always had a smile on his face and would help anyone that needed it. For so many years, he and Jackie set up their camp just next to their friends, the Heasleys and just inside the gates at Fort Booonesborough. Although they attended other events it is always at the fort that I will think of him.
Members of the Fort Boonesborough Foundation, Larry and Jackie always gave of their time. And in addition they had a great time! He laughed and cut up in camp but was always serious on the battlefield. Some re-enactors look like they are playing a part. Others look like they stepped off the frontier. That was Larry. Always dressed correctly for the event. At the Siege he could be seen next to Tommy Barnett (Daniel Boone), at Women on the Frontier he was a willing teacher - from molding bullets to helping women shoot a flintlock for the first time. At the 18th century Christmas he helped Jackie with the German cabin and was one of the "Christmas guns". For years they helped serve meals at The Fireside Chats.
Larry was also a great photographer. He would always make time at events to stop and see my husband Jim and discuss their latest camera gear. He always said they were going to get together to work on photos after he retired. Sadly that never happened.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Jackie, his wife.
I was going to collect a bit of Larry's humor from his facebook page.(facebook.com/larry.ginter.79) But there were too many... and too funny. They are laughing in heaven today I am sure. Godspeed my friend.
