18th Century Market Fair
at Historic Locust Grove

October 26-27, 2013

Built by the Croghan Family c. 1797 the home at Locust Grove has hosted many a visitor in it’s storied past.

The 18th Century Market Fair at Historic Locust Grove brings shoppers and soldiers alike. Although the weather this year was surprisingly cool for late October, re-enactors donned greatcoats and capes over wool uniforms and wool petticoats and gathered for a final outdoor event before winter weather arrives for good.

A Soldier’s Life- Often times a soldier’s life consisted of waiting. Waiting, for orders, waiting to go into battle, waiting for news. Games of dice and cards and hobbies like wood carving helped pass the time.
