An event like the Market Fair takes coordination by many people. The staff of Locust Grove joins with re-enactors Greg Hudson and Kevin Hickle to make it happen. But an often, little known part of the planning is in the battle coordination. That happens not only in the planning stages but as shown above it continues on the battle field as military commander Greg Hudson moves about the field, directing and overseeing to insure a safe and interesting battle re-enactment for the visiting public.

Also on the agenda at The Locust Grove Market Fair was a performance by Mel Hankla. Hankla portrays General George Rogers Clark for the Kentucky Humanities Council. The audience gathered around the porch of Historic Locust Grove as ‘General Clark’ talked of his exploits in securing the Illinois Country for Virginia and thus for the country.

Historic Locust Grove is located in Louisville, Kentucky. Sitting high above the Ohio River the house was built in 1790 by William Croghan and his wife Lucy Clark Croghan. It was a bustling household that often became a gathering place for the other Clark siblings including both General George Rogers Clark and William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery and the many nieces and nephews of the large extended family.
