Old Bardstown Village

Nestled right in the Historic town of Bardstown, Kentucky is the Old Bardstown Village. Circa 1790-1800 log structures have been brought and re-assembled to form the village. During Colonial Days demonstrators are set up inside the cabins and re-enactors and presenters rove through the village.

Many of the buildings in the village now have period wares depicting the use of the building - like the still pictured at the left.

New signs also show use of the cabins. Here at the Blacksmith shop period blacksmith Mic Cain was demonstrating 18th century skills.

In addition to the ongoing exhibits, re-enactors brought their own tools like this set up from a period surveyor.

Birch bark canoes could be seen along the creek near the Indian village.

Other re-enactors were set up several blocks away at Wickland - The Home of Three Governors.

The Bardstown area also has many other historic links. Nearby is the Civil War Museum and there is also a monument (at left) that says “In Memory of the 35 Men of the KENTUCKY MUSTANGS FIRST REGIMENT VOLUNTEERS from Bardstown Led by Captain Burr Duval who were executed on March 27, 1836 in the War for Texas Independaence known as The Goliad Massacre.
