Re-Enactors Visit North Vernon Elementary

Photos by Jim Cummings

It was the fourth year for re-enactors to return to North Vernon Elementary in North Vernon, Indiana. And although the classes change, and the re-enactors vary from year to year -one thing remains the same. The spellbound interest of the children. Not all schools are lucky enough to bring such interactive events to the classroom but parent Jay Kell of North Vernon makes sure he is on hand yearly at the school his daughters attend. His knowledge and displays of authentic 18th century goods and reproduction goods fascinate the students.

North Vernon Elementary also provided an interpreter for the hearing impaired.

Classes line up to pass the display tables for a “hands on” experience before heading out of the library to their next class.

A special thanks to the teachers and staff at North Vernon Elementary for allowing us to visit with their students!
