The memorial consists of a twelve-ft. scale bronze of Abraham Lincoln as he is sitting on a sculpted rock. Lincoln looks over the waterfront park and the Big 4 Pedestrian Bridge can be seen in the background. Louisville’s waterfront development has escalated in the last few years. This Lincoln Memorial was dedicated on June 4, 2009 - 200 years from his birth in a small log cabin in Kentucky.

There are four panels also done in bronze mounted on marble that depict scenes from Lincoln’s life. Below are photos of the individual panels and also details and close ups of the inscriptions. Lincoln was born in Kentucky, married a Kentuckian (Mary Todd). One of the panels refers to his friend Joshua Speed and the time both Lincoln and Speed left the Louisville wharf on a river boat.
