Bardstown, Kentucky was settled in 1780. It quickly became a center for Catholic settlement in Kentucky and became the first diocese west of the Alleghenies. Today’s Bardstown still recognizes these early beginning with the Talbott Tavern built in 1779, The St. Joseph Proto Cathedral built in 1816 and other historic sites.
The 3rd Annual Colonial Days starts with the frontier village complete with cabins dating from between 1776 and 1820. Along with frontier homes, there is a wheel wright's shop, forge, and stillhouse. Just up the hill the event continues at Wickland - the Home of Three Governors which is considered one of the best Georgian-style houses in Kentucky, it was built circa 1825-1828.
The event also hosted a “Tavern Night” on Friday night and a historical ball held at Wickland on Saturday night.
