The Jane Austen Festival is in it’s third year - but has already achieved a large following. The crowd was comprised of those dressed in the Regency Style and visitors just eager to learn about the time period with a large emphasis on the beautiful clothes and especially the hats. Women (and men!) from all walks of life waited to sign in at The Jane Austen Festival. The ball held on Saturday night was sold out in advance.

Guests speakers, afternoon formal tea, shopping in the Shoppes of Meryton and a visit to the beautifully re-restored house at Locust Grove were all on the agenda. The Regency Style show is not only well done but features beautiful examples of clothing and hats. Guest speakers included author Kim Wilson, and historic clothing expert Edward Maeder who designed the hats for the recent PBS Special on Dolley Madison.

Author

Kim Wilson is a writer, editor, gardening enthusiast, and longtime member of the Jane Austen Society of North America. She is the author of Tea with Jane Austen and In the Garden with Jane Austen.
