Booths of The National Park Service greeted visitors first. From there they could travel back through time into the historic encampment.

Events for the weekend consisted of displays by The Park Service, displays and demonstrations by re-enactors, a Saturday twilight walk for re-enactors to the saddle of the gap, and a school day on Monday for area children coupled with the US Mint unveiling of the Quarter.

Re-Enactors prepare to start off on the twilight walk. The walk was dedicated to the late Wayne Milton a re-enactor who lost his battle with cancer in December of 2015. While all of the re-enactors carried lanterns Kathy Milton, Wayne’s widow carried the lit lantern from which all of the others received their light.

Adding to the atmosphere of the evening was the native flute music and the lantern light.

American Treasures Frontier was the theme for the event. It all came together under the guidance of NPS Ranger (and re-enactor) Pam Eddy.

A really nice tough for the event were the hand painted signs giving explanations of the various American Treasures.
