18th Century Thunder gives visitors to Historic Grove a chance to hear musket fire on the hill while down by the river hundreds of thousands are watching a 21st century air show and fireworks display. This year it was a bit breezy and hardy members of the Illinois Regiment were dressed for the weather. Seated around their campfires, the conversation was jovial.

In the middle of the afternoon they formed ranks and marched out to the small family cemetery on the grounds. Although General George Rogers Clark only spent his last years at Locust Grove after a debilitating stroke he was buried on the property. In 1869 he and other members of his family were re-interred in Cave Hill Cemetery. A centograph remains at Historic Locust Grove to honor him.
