Jack Hart a slave that came to early Kentucky with settler Nathaniel Hart lent his rifle to be used at the Battle of Blue Licks
Dr. Anne S. Butler was instrumental in tracking the story. The KY legislature, earlier this year passed a resolution to return the Hart rifle.

After the onstage ceremony, Jack Hart’s Rifle was carried back to the Clark Center for History where it was put on display. The Painted Stone Settlers and ‘Jack Hart’ led the way.
All of the Center exhibits and displays were free and open to the public for the remainder of the day. Below the re-enactors took full advantage and also mingled with the crowd.
