The Annual Oldham County Trade Faire brought out authors, speakers, demonstrators and re-enactors. While the Oldham County Courthouse Square hosts it’s Art on the Green, the Oldham County History Center hosts the Trade Faire. Modern artists and craftsmen on the green contrast sharply with the craftsmen in period dress. This year children could split logs for a rail fence and visit the 18th century magician and his sleight of hand. Brother Jonathan - Colonial Balladeer entertained as did Thomas McShane of Hewn from the Mountain, who also displayed his handmade instruments.
Kentucky authors rounded out the event with books on Kentucky history of all eras. The Painted Stone Settlers captured everyone’s interest as they fired their 18th century replica cannon from the corner of Third Ave. and Main Street - just in front of the train tracks.
