18th Century Thunder
Historic Locust Grove

18th Century Thunder is the spring outing for the Illinois Regiment at Historic Locust Grove. Along the Ohio River in downtown Louisville, Kentucky is a large Fireworks display called “Thunder Over Louisville” which kicks off the Derby Festival Season. Each year Locust Grove responds with 18th Century - bringing the rumble of muskets to the historic home, that rises well above the river.

One of the highlights for children at Locust Grove is in the afternoon when the soldier’s invite the children to join their regiment. It involves, toy rifles, and marching to the beat of the regimental drums. Click here to enjoy this part of the day.
