The Battle Re-Enactment
The Battle of Blue Licks is known as the last battle of the American Revolution. It took place in Kentucky on August 19, 1782 almost ten months after General Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown. But fighting on the Kentucky frontier between the settlers and the Crown forces and their Indian allies had continued for many months. 182 Kentuckians engaged in the battle near the Licking River. Indians had attacked Bryans Station a few days before, but the left without significant engagement. The Kentucky Militia gathered in three companies to follow. Daniel Boone expressed concern that the Indians were making it too easy to follow. Boone was right and the ambush took place near the salt licks known as Blue Licks. The battle lasted less than 15 minutes and approximately 84 Kentuckians were killed including Boone's son Israel.
Re-Enactor's honor this pivotal piece of Kentucky's history by participating on the land where history happened.
