Memorial Day Weekend brings traders to Fort Boonesborough. Trading for goods was a common occurrence on the frontier where currency was scarce. And 2010 was no exception where all manner of goods were for sale. Eighteenth century visitors placed blankets in front of their camps with used goods for sale. Sutlers selling wool, powder horns, children’s toys and general merchandise were set up both in the cabins and around the fort grounds. In addition the 18th Century Transylvania store did a brisk business as visitors to the fort topped over 1,000 for this holiday weekend.
