James Cummings was born in Franklin Ohio on Christmas Eve, 1941. He attended Franklin City Schools and made his mark there as a photographer.
Like his father and brothers, he became a call fireman and shot fire photos for the Franklin fire department. That lead to newspaper photography for The Franklin Chronicle, weddings and all manner of photos needed in a small town.
Always a photographer and always a salesman, he moved to Kentucky in 1979 to sell printing equipment for Heidelberg Eastern. Jim and Kathy were married in 1982 in Crestwood, Kentucky. After 11 years as a very successful salesman, the itch for Jim and Kathy to start their own business became a reality and Graphic Enterprises was born in 1987. First as a printing consultant, the company later morphed into screen printing and then to websites and graphics of all kinds.
In 1999 digital photography met historical re-enacting and a new phase was born. Jim and Kathy spent years traveling and photographing events. This website www.graphicenterprises.net is filled with thousands of photos and videos of living history.
Jim leaves his wife of 37 years Kathleen Delaney Cummings, his children James D. Cummings (Lisa) Middletown, OH; Carren Cornett (David) Woodstock, GA and B. Kelly Cummings (Lori) Middletown, OH. In addition are seven grandchildren Katie Ringwald (Rob) Beckley, WV; J. Matthew Cummings (Tracy) Cincinnati, OH; B. Christopher Cummings, Middletown, OH; Hannah Cornett, Atlanta GA; Mahala Cornett, Woodstock, GA; Cody Stidham (Heather) Middletown, OH and Cheyanne Stidham, Middletown, OH and 8 great-grandchildren.
With his family at his side, Jim passed of heart failure on January 23, 2020. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service for Jim will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Mary’s Center for Special Needs Adults, 14207 Aiken Road, Louisville, KY 40245.
Visitation will be from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm with a service in the chapel at 3:30 pm. At the conclusion of the service, sandwiches and desserts will be served in the Activity Room.
